The stage is set for the eagerly anticipated grand opening of the new Port Blandford Municipal Park Amphitheatre! On September 27th, 2024 as part of the annual AppleFest! ‘Local Jam’ on Friday evening, hundreds of excited visitors will watch as host Martin Jones (CBC fame) takes to the stage for the first ever event at the Municipal Park Amphitheatre ‘Front Porch’. This launch is years in the making thanks to the ongoing efforts of the Port Blandford Town Council, many local volunteers, and the Amphitheatre committee with support from the Government of Canada’s Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Industry, Energy and Technology. The Government of Canada, through ACOA, is providing a non-repayable federal contribution of $333,751 to the Town of Port Blandford to assist in the development of its Municipal Park Amphitheatre. “Congratulations to the Town of Port Blandford, the Amphitheatre Committee and the many volunteers and community members who helped make the new amphitheatre a reality,” said Churence Rogers, Member of Parliament for Bonavista—Burin—Trinity, speaking on behalf of the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA. “This project will provide local businesses and community organizations with an asset that will be enjoyed for years to come while further elevating tourism opportunities and experiences within the region.”
